for this packaging design course project, we were asked to to design a packaging for a product while representing a certain culture of a country of our choice, but only using typography & some basic patterns.

my concept for this project is Identity, i have chosen the Palestinian culture to be the topic of my designs , i chose to do a packaging of a box of traditional Palestinian cookies called “ ka’ak ” , these cookies are a must to have in Eid seasons “ islamic holiday “ , and to fulfill the project’s requirements and my concept idea, i decided to add traditional funny Palestinian idioms that are usually used to describe Eid vibes, atmosphere, gatherings  and people’s happiness during Eid days. i wanted to deliver the idea of identity by visualizing these Palestinian traditional practices through my design, and by doing this i tried to assure that all of what is listed above belongs to the Palestinian culture and are parts of its identity

There are many Palestinian Eid idioms, but i have used these for my project :

يوم عيده بيشبع عبيده، (جميع الناس يشبعون لكثرة الضيافة والمأكولات والعيديات).
One is always full on Eid (everyone is full during Eid because of the hospitality, gatherings, food, and Eid gifts)

بعد العيد ما بيتفتلش كعك، (وهذا المثل إشارة لأن تؤخذ الأمور في مواعيدها، وأن أي أمر يتم بعد موعده ليس له أهمية).
Ka'ak disappears after Eid (in reference to the need for matters to be dealt with in a timely manner, otherwise it loses its relevance and importance)

Zalatimo is a sweet shop that was established in Jerusalem in 1860. they sell the best traditional Palestinian and middle eastern sweets, and while selling their sweets internationally, they by that represent the Palestinian heritage & identity to the whole world, thus its the best choice of brand to do my project for.

in my pattern design i was inspired by a combo of the Palestinian embroidery elements and mosaic art used in the exterior decoration of the dome of the rock mosque which is located in Jerusalem, Palestine .
